As a teacher, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing your students grow. One of my most positive memories was watching as a reserved student led “Simón Dice.” I called on him to lead because I knew it would be a good way to harness his competitive nature and channel that energy into learning Spanish. I knew he was comfortable with the material because he got all of the answers correct on the worksheet we did in the previous class. He was so enthusiastic to be Simón and to try to trick the other students. His energy was infectious and spread throughout the class to make it one of our most exciting and memorable games we’ve played. I was so proud to be able to create a safe place and give him the opportunity to be able to show his knowledge in a way he felt comfortable to do so. I look forward to watching them grow as we finish the semester.
