Classroom Management – Carlos

  • by

During the winter semester, I found that we gained a better idea of how to manage our second class. This was due to us trying a different approach at managing the kids when they got out of hand. Instead of just asking them repeatedly to be quiet (“silencio, por favor!”) we tried waiting for them to be quiet with our arms crossed at the room and after they realized that we were no longer talking, we found that some students would start to shush the others and help redirect everyone’s attention. Then we reminded them in a stern, but not harsh voice that we would not be able to play any fun games/activities if they kept talking out of turn. This method of not trying to talk over them, but rather letting them figure out that they were hindering the lesson for everyone has proven much more effective for us.
