{"id":170,"date":"2017-01-28T17:32:11","date_gmt":"2017-01-28T17:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.soe.umich.edu\/adolescent-transitions-lab\/?page_id=170"},"modified":"2022-10-03T15:41:44","modified_gmt":"2022-10-03T15:41:44","slug":"director-allison-ryan","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.marsal.umich.edu\/adolescent-transitions-lab\/people\/director-allison-ryan\/","title":{"rendered":"Director"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>Allison Ryan<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I am a Professor in the Combined Program in Education and Psychology at the University of Michigan. &nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">My research interests concern students\u2019 achievement beliefs and behaviors at school. &nbsp;I focus on how personal characteristics as well as the nature of children\u2019s classroom and peer group contexts influence motivation, engagement and achievement in school. &nbsp;A theme throughout my research is a focus on the intersection of social and academic concerns of young adolescents at school. &nbsp;In a variety of ways I have explored how interpersonal relationships are intertwined with, and facilitate or constrain, students\u2019 motivation, engagement and achievement. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">My research has been published in<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Developmental Psychology<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Journal of Educational Psychology,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Journal of Youth and Adolescence, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">among others. I have published two books: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Peer Relationships and Adjustment at School <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(2012, co-edited with Gary W. Ladd) and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Adolescence for Educators <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(2016, co-authored with Tim Urdan and Eric E. Anderman).
