Our Advocacy

The CREATE Center maintains community-engaged partnerships that support the use of high quality, educational research to inform justice-driven educational advocacy by offering research assistance and helping to disseminate research-based information to the public. We partner with justice-driven community-based education organizations and leaders of non-profit initiatives dedicated to fostering equitable public education.

DLUB

Don't Leave Us Behind

We currently partner with organizers of the Don’t Leave Us Behind (DLUB) Campaign, who include community members, family members, current and former PreK-12 educators and university researchers. DLUB advocates for equitable and evidence-based literacy practices, policies, and assessment to ensure increased educational opportunities and improved learning for all students.

Coming Soon! We are pleased to share the trailer for DLUB’s upcoming documentary series about literacy and the future of our democracy: DON’T LEAVE US BEHIND,  tinyurl.com/DLUBtrailer

482Forward

In the past, CREATE researchers also partnered with 482Forward, a non-profit organization of Detroit-based education organizers who are devoted to “building power to make systemic change and win educational justice for our communities”. CREATE lent research assistance that helped inform the CBO’s successful campaign to halt the closure of dozens of Detroit public schools and we aided in the development of the CBO’s adult and youth participatory action research endeavors.
