Youth-Engaged Research Symposium 2024
We are thrilled to share that the CREATE Center’s second Youth-Engaged Research Symposium is being held on Friday, March 29, 2024. RSVP here
This year we will have conversations and online and in-person presentations highlighting the great community research that youth are contributing to and co-leading. Altogether, teams of youth researchers and their adult mentors will share a range of cultural perspectives and insights into their collaborative pursuits of various educational and racial justice matters across Michigan and internationally.
Our presenters will include the Indigenous Education Youth Collective from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, The Digital Tech Workshop team from Detroit, the GET City research team from Lansing, and the Kakuma Youth Research Group from Kenya and South Sudan. U-M Marsal Family School of Education doctoral researchers who are collaborating with youth will also be sharing their work.
We look forward to gathering for this special event both virtually and in Ann Arbor!

Youth-Engaged Research Symposium 2023
On March 17, 2023, the CREATE Center highlighted the exciting work of youth-engaged research teams in the region who are investigating pressing issues of education justice. We also learned from graduate students who are undertaking important youth-engaged work. We are grateful for the youth, U-M students, faculty, staff, and community partners who contributed to the wonderful success of CREATE’s Youth-Engaged Research Symposium. The event involved deep learning and engagement, moments of generous vulnerability, expressions of and lessons about care, and helpful networking.
