Students and Scholars"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Ph.D. students<\/strong>:\u00a0\u00a0Ph.D. students who contribute to the MAC are admitted by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/marsal.umich.edu\/academics-admissions\/cshpe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education<\/a>\u00a0(CSHPE).\u00a0\u00a0Prof. Bastedo both advises Ph.D. students and supervises research assistants (GSRAs), but admissions decisions are made by CSHPE, not individual faculty.\u00a0\u00a0Ph.D. students on the research team have professional and\/or research experience in college admissions or closely related areas.\u00a0\u00a0Prof. Bastedo accepts new students assigned by CSHPE each year unless stated otherwise here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>M.A. students<\/strong>: M.A. students are admitted by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/marsal.umich.edu\/academics-admissions\/cshpe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CSHPE<\/a>\u00a0and Prof. Bastedo accepts new advisees when assigned by the department.\u00a0\u00a0M.A. students on the research team who have some background in college admissions or related areas are preferred, but it is not required.\u00a0\u00a0We generally accept one master\u2019s student on the research team each year through CSHPE\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/marsal.umich.edu\/academics-admissions\/cshpe\/mrop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Master\u2019s Research Opportunities Program<\/a>\u00a0(MROP) and do not have the capacity to accept students from other UM programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Undergraduate students<\/strong>: We generally do not have the capacity to add undergraduate students to the research team on a regular basis, but occasionally researchers have opportunities on individual projects.\u00a0\u00a0We will most often select students through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lsa.umich.edu\/urop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program<\/a>\u00a0(UROP).\u00a0\u00a0Marsal students in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/marsal.umich.edu\/academics-admissions\/leaps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LEAPS<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/marsal.umich.edu\/academics-admissions\/degrees\/minor\/education-empowerment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ed Minor<\/a>\u00a0would generally be prioritized for these opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Postdoctoral scholars<\/strong>: Unfortunately, we cannot provide financial support for postdoctoral scholars.\u00a0\u00a0Postdocs with existing support may be considered if they are conducting empirical research on college admissions, in the U.S. or internationally.\u00a0\u00a0All postdoctoral scholars\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/marsal.umich.edu\/visiting-scholars\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">must be approved by CSHPE<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Visiting scholars<\/strong>: Faculty and researchers from other institutions who conduct empirical research on admissions policy or practices can be considered to work in the MAC for periods of one year or less.\u00a0\u00a0All visiting scholars\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/marsal.umich.edu\/visiting-scholars\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">must be approved by
