Established in 1988-1989, the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program<\/strong> (UROP)<\/strong><\/a> creates research partnerships between undergraduate students and University of Michigan (U-M) researchers and community partners and organizations. UROP supports the mission of the University of Michigan by engaging undergraduate students in research and creative inquiry. UROP encourages students towards a life-long appreciation for discovery and the social benefits of diversity, for building understanding across differences, and for critically examining information in the world around them. By providing opportunities for students to work on research and creative projects with University of Michigan researchers and community partners in all academic disciplines, UROP creates conditions for an equitable, inclusive, and supportive educational environment where every person feels valued and has an opportunity to add value. Community College Summer Fellowship Program <\/a><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
\n

The Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) at the University of Michigan (UM), Ann Arbor offers a 10 week paid State-Wide Summer Research Fellowship for currently enrolled Michigan community college students who are interested in transferring to U-M, Ann Arbor, or any other institution in the future. Research projects are available in all fields, including social sciences, humanities, engineering, health sciences, physical sciences, natural sciences, and environmental sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0Summer Research Opportunities Program\u00a0(SROP)<\/strong> is a gateway to graduate education at Big Ten Academic Alliance universities. The goal of the program is to increase the number of underrepresented students who pursue graduate study and research careers. SROP helps prepare undergraduates for graduate study through intensive research experiences with faculty mentors and enrichment activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After 35+ years, SROP celebrates the achievements of its alumni. To date, 610 program alumni have earned a Ph.D. degree and are now preparing the next generation of SROP scholars as mentors and teachers. Thousands of others have completed graduate training and are pursuing successful careers in government, business, and non-profit agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
