{"id":4867,"date":"2014-05-23T11:05:01","date_gmt":"2014-05-23T16:35:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/studentstories.soe.umich.edu\/?page_id=4867"},"modified":"2023-07-10T20:13:06","modified_gmt":"2023-07-10T20:13:06","slug":"crazy-horse-memorial","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.marsal.umich.edu\/studentstories\/past-trips\/current-excursion-tribal-college-trip\/tribal-college-trip-sites\/crazy-horse-memorial\/","title":{"rendered":"Crazy Horse Memorial"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Wednesday, June 25<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through collaboration with Dr. Jason Murray, Director of the Indian University of North America for the Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation, our students have been invited to present a panel about attending graduate school to undergraduate students at the Indian University of North America.&nbsp; This program is part of the educational mission of the Crazy Horse Memorial.&nbsp; The newly constructed dormitory accommodates 32 student participants.&nbsp; These students engage in a nine-week summer program, attending college-level classes and bridge-like activities tailored to advance their academic success.&nbsp; Upon completion of the program, students will have earned course credits equivalent to one semester of college.&nbsp; They also are provided a paid internship and mentored on life, study and work skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.marsal.umich.edu\/studentstories\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2014\/07\/Can-Crazy-Horse-IMG_2765se\u00b5\u00bc.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.marsal.umich.edu\/studentstories\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2014\/07\/Can-Crazy-Horse-IMG_2765se\u00b5\u00bc.jpg\" alt=\"Can Crazy Horse IMG_2765s\u00eb\u00bb\u00b5\u00a3\u00bc\" class=\"wp-image-5001\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After an afternoon of presentations, we share a meal with the Indian University students and enjoy learning where they are from, where they will be going to school in the fall, and about their aspirations for the future.&nbsp;
