Knowledges of Care - Inclusive History Project

Page under revision

PASS researchers received funding from the University’s Inclusive History Project for their project “Knowledges of Care:  Institutionalizing Philippine-Michigan Colonial Connections in the Development of the Schools of Medicine and Public Health”.

This project examines how the colonial relationship between the United States and the Philippines (1898-1946) shaped the development of UM’s Schools of Medicine and Public Health. Drawing on the historical collections at the University of Michigan and other sources, we are investigating the ways in which transnational flows of knowledge about health, medicine, and care became institutionalized in the 20th century, impacting professional training programs and generations of healthcare professionals.
